I’m Shiu, the founder of Whitee. I’m a long-time white T-shirt wearer—I wear one almost every day. There’s one thing that has always bothered me.
For some reason, every time I wash my hands, my shirt ends up with a wet patch. It feels awkward, especially when I’m out with friends or at work. If I also spill a bit of a drink on it, it gets even worse.
Gradually, I realized this wasn’t just my personal problem. Washing hands, eating, or drinking are all everyday actions, but they can easily ruin a white T-shirt and put you in an awkward situation.
Most white T-shirts on the market are not designed to solve real daily-life problems. Very few people are truly focused on making better white tees, and even when they do, it usually comes down to using slightly better materials or craftsmanship.
So I went deeper into the supply chain, and eventually found a solution.
We didn’t try to “improve” a white T-shirt. We rebuilt how it handles everyday life.
The key was the surface. We applied a lotus-effect inspired spill-resistant treatment, where liquids sit on the fabric surface instead of immediately soaking in. This gives you time to wipe off common spills before they turn into stains.
At the same time, we kept the foundation natural—100% long-staple cotton for breathability, and a 60-count fine knit to create a stable, structured feel without losing softness.
The result is a white T-shirt designed for real daily situations: cleaner when accidents happen, more comfortable when conditions change, and structured enough to stay presentable throughout the day.
Machine washable. The fabric has a surface water-repellent finish only (not waterproof or immersion-resistant), so it is safe for normal washing. Use cold or ≤30°C water and a gentle cycle. Do not use bleach or strong alkaline detergents.
Is it breathable
Breathable. The inner layer is untreated pure cotton with normal airflow and moisture comfort. Only the outer surface is treated for water repellency.
Will the water-repellent effect wear off after washing?
Yes, it typically lasts 100+ washes without special care. It is a surface treatment and will gradually weaken over time.
What happens in rain or when coffee spills on it?
Light rain or liquid splashes bead and roll off. If the liquid is heavy, concentrated, or left for a long time, it may still absorb and should be cleaned promptly.
Can it resist sauces or food spills?
It resists light, flowing sauces. Thick or non-flowing sauces (e.g., mayonnaise, egg yolk) are not fully repelled, but stains are easier to clean compared to regular cotton T-shirts.
